SENDING OUT MISSIONARIES |
| |
|
|
| |
As our name implies,
NMM sends and equips national missionary workers who preach the
Gospel in the most unreached areas in North India. Mission experience
has demonstrated that it is wiser to support indigenous missionaries
who work within their own culture than to send foreign missionaries
who must labor in unfamiliar surroundings. A native missionary is
highly effective because he knows the customs, culture, and language
of the people he is ministering to.
Every year the Lord enables NMM to send out hundreds of native
missionaries who have completed their training in our centers to
involve in full time church planting work. These missionaries are
planting churches in rural villages enabling the seed of the gospel
to take root and grow in communities that previously have not heard
the Good News of Jesus Christ
Besides sending missionaries out to the field, we also supply them
with the resources they will need to effectively communicate the
Gospel. We provide our missionaries with tools such as bicycles,
scooters, gospel literature, film and projector, lanterns, etc.

1. A Missionary from Meghwal
Caste: |

|
|

Tejaram Jaypal, from Meghwal
caste is the first native person to become a missionary in North
Rajasthan. He was a staunch worshipper of a local deity. He read
a gospel tract and became a Christian. He had to face stiff opposition
from his family. He was given two options – either renounce
Christ or forget the family.Jaypal chose to follow Christ and joined
the Bible College. He completed his training. Now Jaypal is pioneering
in the desert district of Rajasthan. |

There are no preachers
or a church in this area. Within a couple of months time Jaypal
was able to win 40 people to Christ. Today his brother’s family
members are Christians too. |

2. A Woman with A Passion for
Souls |

Here is an amazing story of how God
is using a simple, down-to-earth native Bible woman to accomplish
His purpose. This is the story of a church in a remote village in
Central India
Anita is 22 years old and belongs to a jungle
village in central India. Five years ago when she rejected idol
worship and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior, she was the only
one in her family to do so. |

Her family members and
village people did their best to quench her desire to know Jesus
more and more. But Anita was determined. Moreover, she dedicated
herself to serve the Lord for the rest of her life. Anita faced
strong opposition. When her father discovered about her plan to
spend her entire life preaching the Gospel, he threatened to throw
her out of the house and even send her to jail. Nevertheless, Anita
started to witness about the love of Jesus to her own village people.
However, the next major confrontation was still to come. When she
finished her high school, Anita asked her father to allow her to
go to Bible School.
Her parents strongly rejected such an idea. She still wouldn’t
allow herself to get discouraged. She prayed often and kept her
decision and commitment to serve the Lord strong. And then one morning
a wondrous thing happened: her parents relented! “If you are
so particular in going to a Bible school,” they said, “you
may, but we will not give you a single penny!” Hearing this,
Anita jumped with joy and began packing her clothes in an old bag.
Miraculously she received some money which was sufficient to reach
Bible College where she intended to be trained for the ministry.
Soon she was ready to enrol herself in the Filadelfia Bible College.
When the village folk came to know that she was going to a far-off
place all by herself, many of them discouraged her. But still she
stood firm in her decision to study God’s Word and then do
the mission work. In order to reach the bus station, Anita had to
walk through the jungle several hours carrying her luggage. No one
came to see her off. She was leaving her home for the first time.
There were tears in her eyes, but she had a great confidence that
God would take care of her.
During her studies there, God put a tremendous burden upon her
heart for a certain village. She began to pray for boldness to witness
in that village soon after her studies. She was looking forward
to finish her training and go to that particular village to preach
the Gospel where God wanted her to go.

Completing her studies,
she reached home with a great zeal to share God’s love with
the people of that certain village. When she first went there, there
was not a single Christian. Every morning she went out to visit
the villages. She began to share the gospel and pray for the sick.
God answered her prayers and many people received deliverance from
sicknesses and demon possession. Regular visits to such families
with different needs paved the way for her to introduce Christ.
Within six months Anita was instrumental in bringing more than 100
people to Jesus and regular worship services are being conducted
for the new believers. Every Sunday they gather in a small hut for
worship, and many villagers are coming eagerly to hear the gospel.
Right from the beginning the opponents started to look at her with
suspicion because it was not common for a single lady to stay by
herself in a new place and do religious work. The whole village
was shaken by her faith and courage. When people began turning to
Jesus from that village, opposition started. She was threatened
many times as she travelled. At other times, she was warned to stop
the Christian work in that village. But in the midst of all this
opposition, she continued witnessing about Jesus. Persecution mounted.
One day as the new converts were worshipping the Lord, a group of
people came and disturbed the meeting and shouted, “We will
not allow such a meeting anymore in this village. You must stop
it now.” Because of the severe persecution, she was forced
to stop the worship service there. But the newborn believers were
not disheartened. Anita took them to another village where she saw
an open door. There one family opened their house for meetings.
Now the new converts of that particular village walk several miles
to attend the Bible study and the meetings in the other village.
They are so hungry for learning God’s Word!
As I listened to Anita’s work, I could sense that this young
lady was living with a great awareness of God’s call on her
future. When I asked her about her ambition in life, without hesitation
she answered, “I have no other desire than to serve my Jesus.
I believe God will touch the entire village and the neighboring
villages.” With a great hope beaming on her face, she said,
“There are thousands of people in that village who have never
heard Jesus’ name. I want to see everyone won for Jesus.”
She is willing to go; regardless of the price of suffering she will
have to pay. She believes that this village will soon be won for
Jesus.
But even this dedicated sister knows she can’t fight the
battle alone. These wonderful victories don’t come without
a high price of suffering paid by the native missionaries. On every
mission field they approach with the gospel, they first face hardship
and persecution. But the winner at last is always God. Right now
there are several Bible women like sister Anita who are equally
dedicated and equally persecuted for their bold witness for Christ.
Yet no one is there to wipe their tears, comfort and pray with them
to ease their pain.
