Tragedy in Haiti - A letter from our President, Joy Punnoose
I am sure you have heard about the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday, January 12. This earthquake is being described as the worst to hit Haiti in centuries. The earthquake and aftershocks have left this Caribbean nation in near total devastation. Haiti, the poorest nation in our hemisphere, has limited resources to respond to this major disaster. Some media outlets are reporting that tens of thousands may have died with countless numbers injured. No one knows how many are without food and shelter. There could be 100,000 dead, and a half million or more injured, sick, and starving.
The Haitian people need your prayers. Hundreds of thousands of people will die. Communication with Haiti is very difficult at the moment. We are encouraging you to join us in praying for the Haitian people and for rescue and relief workers. Also, please lift in prayer the many Haitians in Canada and USA who are deeply concerned about their families and friends back in Haiti.
Native Missionary Movement is combining with a mission agency in Virginia (Hope Builders International) to rush practical aid to the Haitian people. Please help. We need your gifts by cash, check, or credit card for the costs. You can donate through our website. Donate here or mail check to Native Missionary Movement, P.O. Box 830907, Richardson, TX 75083.
Please indicate that your donation is for "Disaster Relief for Haiti". Most of all, PRAY for the dear suffering people of Haiti. Many thousands of them are precious brothers and sisters in Christ.
