The late Dr.Thomas Mathews was the Founder of the Filadelfia Bible College. He started the College in 1982 with a vision to see graduates taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ back to their own region where they minister to the lost and plant churches. His vision has been fulfilled and continues through the lives of hundreds of graduates from all over India entering their ripe mission fields. The Vision of the College is to be a “light to the nations” (Isa.42:9) by equipping native men and women with the knowledge, skill and passion to revitalize the Church and fulfill the “Great Commission” in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Bible College’s main building is a four-story structure. It houses the administrative office, library and classrooms. There are three separate buildings that the students live in. One for the men, one for the upper classmen and one for the women. The John Osteen building is a multistoried building located behind the main building containing the dinning hall and staff quarters above.
The Bible College library has more than 16,000 volumes and is one of the developing specialist theological libraries in northwest India. Our IT department provides CD-ROM search facilities, internet and e-mail access terminals within the library for faculty and student research. The faculty of the Bible College combines academic excellence and pastoral skills with a broad range of life, mission and ministry experience both nationally and internationally. Several of the faculty members are also involved in a wide range of other responsibilities outside the College including academic seminars, pastoring churches and children’s homes.
The Bible College is a unique and great place to live and study. We have a culturally diverse community full of excitement, growth, development and discovery. Our students share this important time of training and preparation with other students of varying ages, past professions and cultural backgrounds from throughout India and a few neighboring countries.
The following are some of our academic programs available:
Master of Divinity (M.Div) :
A three year program in English Medium for a person who holds at least a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. A candidate with a Bachelor Degree of Theology from Serampore or ATA can complete M.Div in two years.
Bachelor of Theology (B.Th) :
This program in English Medium is for men or women who have successfully completed their twelfth grade or equivalent in school. A person who has a Diploma in Theology from ATA or a recognized university can apply for B.Th.
Diploma in Theology (Dip.Th) :
A two year program in English or Hindi Medium for those who have passed tenth grade in school or the equivalent.
Certificate in Theology (C.Th) :
This program is available only in Hindi Medium.
Note: All our degreed programs are accredited by the Asia Theological Association.
